WealthQuest® III Variable Products involve
investment risk, including the possibility of negative rates of return.
The rates of return are not guaranteed and will fluctuate, and shares
may be worth more or less than their original cost when withdrawn. The
death benefit guarantee is subject to the claims-paying ability of the
insurance company and does not extend to the Separate Account. American

a variety of investment options, from some of America's most well-known

WealthQuest® III Variable Annuity has
been designed for today's multi-faceted investment needs, and offers features
and benefits not found in many other investments. Refer to the WealthQuest®
III Variable Annuity Plan Prospectus for greater detail.
American National does not currently deduct
a sales charge at contract purchase. American National may deduct a surrender
charge up to 7% of purchase payments withdrawn. An annual contract fee
of $35 will be charged unless all of the contract accumulation value is
in the fixed account, or the contract accumulation value is greater than
$50,000 on the last day of a contract year.
American National charges a mortality and
expense risk fee to meet death benefit obligations and to pay expenses
not covered by the annual contract fee. The mortality and expense risk
fee is 1.20% on an annual basis, which includes a daily administrative
fee equal to 0.10% of the contract's daily accumulation value on an annual
basis. American National will charge a higher mortality risk fee if an
Enhanced Death Benefit Rider is chosen. American National may make additional
charges for premium taxes when incurred.
WealthQuest® III Group Unallocated
Variable Annuity has been designed for today's multi-faceted investment
needs, and offers features and benefits not found in many other investments.
Refer to the WealthQuest® III Group Unallocated Variable Annuity Plan
Prospectus for greater detail. This investment is a group annuity which
is not available to individual investors.
American National does not currently deduct
a sales charge at contract purchase. American National may deduct a surrender
charge up to 7% of accumulation value withdrawn.
American National charges a mortaility
and expense risk fee to meet death benefit obligations and to pay expenses.
The mortality and expense risk fee is .35% on an annual basis. In addition,
an administrative fee is assessed. The administrative fee is applied to
the accumulation value and ranges from a maximum of .90% to .00% depending
upon the amount of the accumulation value. American National may make
additional charges for premium taxes when incurred.
WealthQuest® III Variable Universal Life combines the flexibility
of universal life insurance with investment options. Refer to the WealthQuest®
III Variable Universal Life Plan Prospectus for greater detail.
Premium payments will be reduced by a premium
charge not to exceed 6%. The monthly charge deducted from the contract's
accumuluation value that consists of a monthly maintenance fee of $7.50,
a cost of insurance charge, a monthly expense charge per $1,000 of Specified
Amount based upon the issue age, risk class and Death Benefit Guarantee
coverage period and a charge for any insurance riders chosen. There is
a daily asset charge equal to .70% annually of the average daily accumulation
value of each subaccount. Currently, after the first 15 Contract Years
the daily asset charge is 0.00%. The cost of rider(s) will be a rate per
$1,000 of specified amount. The surrender charge is applicable for 15
years, and 15 years from the effective date of any increase in specified
amount.
Expenses, cost of insurance and earnings
credited to the Separate Account are all explained in greater detail in
the contract. In addition, the owner will receive a detailed annual report
itemizing all of the transactions during the year, including starting
value, premium paid, expense charges, cost of insurance deducted, earnings
credited to the Separate Account, partial withdrawals or loans, and ending
balance.
